Release: V5.6.0 Deleting Dodo

Hi!

Todays release is a relatively small one with one added feature and mostly bug fixes and enhancements. Other things are in the works but are mostly of a structural nature. For example /u/eritbh is making good progress on restructuring toolbox to make use of modern javascript features. However another factor is decreased developer availability, so as always if you have the skills or have been meaning to brush up on them we do welcome code contributions!

Features

  • Added message preview functionality to the macro popup

Fixes

  • Show old/ignored reports works properly again
  • Adjusted new modmail functionality to work more easily with additions of new directories like the recent "join request" directory and the currently being trialed "filtered" director
  • Make context popup work for user profile links
  • Fix an issue with overflowing in removal reasons
  • Fix an issue where sorting by age in the queue gave inconsistent results

Other

  • Manifest updates
  • Improvements to web request interface
  • New ratelimit handler

Possible to remove "Asking for second opinion in modmail"?

Hi, I am new in using toolbox and if there is a setting I've missed it. Also another question, what does the [include link] do?, under each user note I add. It's checked by default and I keep it this way for the time being. Thank you for any help.

Is it possible to filter the modmail notification icon by subreddit?

You can do this with the modqueue notification, but I can't find a way to do it for the modmail button.

I'm not sure if it was because I cleaned up over 100 mod queue items today or reported terrorism to the admins. Either way, I like this.

Is there a way to mute a user from the moderator menu?

By "moderator menu" I mean that little "M" toolbox puts next to a users name to let you conveniently ban a user.

Is there a similar feature to mute a user?

Some suggestions to implement into Toolbox to make documenting easier.

Having used Toolbox for a year now I have some suggestions since I make heavy use of Notes and documenting bans. I am 100% not sure if any of these are possible but just throwing them out. Also I use Old Reddit.

1) When entering a Note on a user comment, automatically populate the entire comment in the note field at the end to retain it and allow the Moderator to enter a custom note near the beginning of the field. Also have the note auto-populate the title of the submission (if it's a submission that we are documenting in Notes).

2) If the above isn't possible, create a 'Select All + Copy' button for comments and submission titles so they are easier to capture for copying into Notes or the ban/send message pop-up boxes. Currently I need to manually highlight and copy the title/comment to retain it in Notes or the ban/send message.

3) Have drop-down items in Notes and the ban/send message pop-up boxes with customizable messages. Sometimes the same note (or message in the ban/send message box) needs to be input so some kind of drop-down or macro feature would help here with simply selecting a pre-made note/message.

[Request] Add report reason filter

If there's a way to do this I've not found it - so let me know otherwise.

tl;dr people have been abusing the "self-harm" report button en-masse. Looking for some way to filter on report reason so I can grab all of those, mass-approve, and then get back to what actually needs to be reviewed.

[Request] User notes for users who haven't posted on a sub I moderate yet

Scenario: I recognise a user with a new account that we've banned previously on a different sub, and want to tag them with a user note (e.g. "previously banned, was XYZ") on my sub so that if they do pop up on the sub I moderate we can recognise and deal with them appropriately.

For now I've RES-tagged the user but obviously that doesn't help other mods on the sub.

(I'm not asking for the ability to add user notes against other subs, I know you won't do this as per this request, but hopefully this is a different enough scenario that it could be considered).

How can I unban a permanently banned member of a subreddit.

Is am unable to unban a member of the subreddit I am moderating. I did not permanently ban this member and try to unban him using the Mod button but I get an error each time. Is there anything I can do or does this banned member need to contact the Mod that banned him? One of the other Mods try to unban him but they also failed.

[Request] Zero Action Filter

When generating a old.reddit Mod Log Matrix, wouldn't it be lovely if there were just one more option in the action filter, to hide all actions with a total of 0? It would certainly make the matrix look better without the tedium of manually unchecking every action that wasn't taken in the reporting period.

The current workflow is basically scrolling down to uncheck whatever activity has a total of zero actions, scrolling back up to the matrix to look for another 0, scrolling down to uncheck the action, scrolling back up to the matrix to look for another 0, scrolling down to uncheck the action, scrolling back up to the matrix to look for another 0, scrolling down to uncheck the action......

Is it possible to make macros based on automod conditions?

Hi all,

For example, making all future comments in a particular post subject to manual approval?

Or is something like that beyond the scope of toolbox?

I essentially thinking of a one-button solution after we were to write the code somewhere.

Question on backing up user notes.

I kind of understand how backing up works. I created a personal private sub and backed up my settings there from the other sub that I moderate. I thought everything is backed up (including user notes) but then I found out that the user notes and other things are just backed up to the wiki on the sub that I moderate.

Is it possible to back up user notes and other things locally on my PC? Is the data that's being saved to the sub's wiki downloadable? If not, how would I restore user notes and other material off of a sub's wiki if it was lost?

Thanks.

Removal Reasons Not Working For Anyone Else?

My removal reasons aren't working today. No recent changes to my system. Are removal reasons down for anyone else?

Post removal reasons not working?

It seems the remove post and possibly remove comment have stopped working.

I don't get a toolbox popup when removing them on any of the subs I mod now and I've heard a few others report the same.

I'm not sure if Reddit have changed something because the buttons don't seem to be displaying correctly when clicked?

This is on Chrome.

Hide certain subs you moderate from modbar?

I really like using the modbar at the bottom to quickly flip between different sub mod queues, but is there a way to hide any subs from that list of subs? Or is there a way to explicitly choose which subs are visible?

I'd like to hide a couple private sub that are used for testing various things from the list.

The buttons next to usernames won't appear on one post.

Moderator of /r/WoT. We have one page where the buttons (mod button, user notes, profile, history) don't appear next to usernames. This is happening for all of my mods.

The buttons appear fine in all other threads. They also appear if I follow the permalink of a comment on that page, just not the page as a whole.

Voting arrows, Reddit links and buttons stop working, comments that I submit don't show up and banning someone takes me to a "user not found" page in Old Reddit

Everything I said above. Either a refresh of the tab (with no other Reddit tabs open) or a reload of the browser fixes this temporarily, then the issues come back. It makes Old Reddit more or less unusable for me.

Unable to Clear Domain Tag

I tagged a domain with a color, and I'm now unable to clear that tag. I can change the color successfully but I want to completely remove the domain tag and it doesn't work. I have tried clearing the moderator toolbox cache, and I have tried running the extension in an incognito browser with no other extensions running to ensure no other extension was causing the problem.

Toolbox suddenly broken?

As of 11/1/2021 around 11:00 PM GMT, my Toolbox suddenly stopped working. There have been no changes to my browser or setup, but I suddenly can not use the extension for any features (removal reasons, toolbar, etc).

I am using Firefox as my browser. I have tried refreshing pages, reinstalling the extension, disabling all other extensions, etc. Is there a reason why the extension would suddenly cease to work for Firefox?

Mod queue counter inaccurate

Just started in the last day. I've cleared the mod queue, but it shows [3] in the footer, when it should so [0]. I tried out the new post-level crowd control comment filter the other day on a popular post, and I'm wondering if that has something to do with it.

Edit: a day later, and now it's showing [10], so whatever is causing it, it's still going on.

Edit2, Nov 10: up to 28 now.

Edit3, Nov 12: up to 30, and now the count won't go above 37 total, regardless of actual amount of reports. That is, count won't go below 30, even if the queue is empty, but if I have twenty real reports, the count won't say 50, but 37.

If A Moderator Has Access To The Toolbox Wiki Pages, But Does Not Have Wiki Permissions, Are They Able To View And Modify Usernotes?

For example, if I add them as an approved wiki contribute for those pages. Would this enable them to modify usernotes without allowing them to edit the other pages?

How to delete multiple/all posts from the sub that have the same flair?

Is it possible to delete all posts from the sub that have the same flair using toolbox?

I am a mod. And want to delete certain repeatative posts that were created by automod on the sub. They have the same and unique flair.

Edit. Found a relevant post, might try it
