Me too. The night the world was supposed to end, I was looking out the bay window with my sister at traffic passing by. The lights in the city across the river suddenly shut off. Then the bridge lights. All the cars slowed to a halt. Then, our neighborhood went completely dark. We were without power for several hours.
Ever since that day, life has been completely bizarre and tragic. Like I'm just not supposed to be here. My life has felt like I accidentally clipped into a room I hadn't unlocked yet, and now I can't get out. I'm stuck here, year after year. I'm hitting milestones, but my progress feels irrelevant. Like it's being juxtaposed to something sinister.

An excerpt from a Terence Mckenna interview
It's only going to get weirder. The level of contradiction is going to rise excruciatingly, even beyond the excruciating present levels of contradiction. So, I think it's just going to get weirder and weirder, and weirder, and finally it's going to be so weird that people are going to have to talk about how weird it is. And at that point novelty theory can come out of the woods, ah, because eventually people are going to say, âWhat the hell is going on?â It's just too nuts, it's not enough to say it's nuts, you have to explain why it's so nuts. So, between now and 2012, the next 14 years, I look for: the invention of artificial life, the cloning of human beings, possible contact with extraterrestrials, possible human immortality, and at the same time, appalling acts of brutality, genocide, race baiting, homophobia, famine, starvation; because the systems which are in place to keep the world sane are utterly inadequate to the forces that have been unleashed. The collapse of the socialist world, the rise of the internet. These are changes so immense nobody could imagine them ever happening, and now that they have happened nobody even bothers to mention what a big deal it is. Ah, the fact that there is no such thing as the Soviet Union, people never talk about it anymoreâbut when I was a kid the notion that that would ever change was beyond conceiving. Ah, so the good news is, that as primates we are incredibly adaptable to change. Put us in the desert, we survive, put us the jungle, we survive, under Hitler we survive, under Nixon we survive. We can put up with about anything and it's a good thing because we are going to be tested to the limits. The breakdown of anythingâand this is why the rightwing is so alarmedâbecause what they see going on is the breakdown of all tradition, all order, all sanctioned norms of behaviour. And they're quite right that it's happening, but they're quite wrong to conclude that it should be resisted or is somehow evil. The mushroom said to me once, it said: âThis is what it's like when a species prepares to depart for the stars.â You don't depart for the stars under calm and orderly conditions; it's a fire in a madhouse, and that's what we have, the fire in the madhouse at the end of time. This is what it's like when a species prepares to move on to the next dimension. The entire destiny of all life on the planet is tied up in this; we are not acting for ourselves, or from ourselves; we happen to be the point species on a transformation that will affect every living organism on this planet at its conclusion."

u/cyon_me Dec 01 '22
One good thing that seems to be happening though is that authoritarians have large egos and are intensively swayed by this churning. They're going to topple themselves and stronger better governments will rise from that. The world's boiling, but it won't burn. Many people will die, put the people who killed them will not be allowed to exist anymore. Societies are learning how to smite such horrible movements from local levels to top levels without blanket banning speech. And instead of creating witch hunts this creates people coming together for safety. We're learning how to deal with this, and we are growing more vigorous in our efforts than ever.

as much as alex engages with antisemitic conspiracy theories and courts "nazis" in the colloquial sense, i really dont think he supports actual swastika wearing, admittedly hitler supporting nazis, and very much doubt he actually has any support for hitler - hitler is a part of his special breed of globalist/new world order conspiracy, and he connects hitler and the nazis to current people/groups he sees as part of the "cabal" like bill gates, soros, klaus schwab etc etc. in alex's conspiracy eschatology hitler and the nazis were a sort of new world order population control project and are associated with the satanic dmt taking pedophile AI technocracy cabal.
→ More replies155
u/birdiebud Dec 02 '22
Correct.
The conspiracy nutters like "strong men" because they view them as necessary to oppose the evils that exist in the world. But Alex Jones entire twisted, messed up world view is built around the idea that there's a global, evil cabal.
And well, actual Nazis were a global, evil cabal, they had all kinds of weird magic rituals, amphetamine use, weird beliefs about their destined role in the world - they were absolutely the kind of creepy political-religious illuminati nightmare Alex Jones fears.
Most of the descendants of holocaust survivors - myself included - are left wing for obvious reasons, but we do distinguish between actual fucking Nazi supporters (Ye) and lunatic conspiracy theorists (Alex Jones). There's nuance to the scumbags of the world.

906
u/kingkonig Dec 02 '22
The joke was âdo you like fish sticksâ âyeahâ âwhat are you, a gay fish?â
âFish sticksâ pretty fast sounds not dissimilar to âfish dicksâ
The South Park joke was that Kanye doesnât have a sense of humor and isnât smart enough to understand that itâs a joke

u/ChriskiV Dec 02 '22

u/kingkonig Dec 02 '22
Oh absolutely. If real life Kanye never reacted to it, or understood it and just laughed it off, it would have been an episode that just aged a bit poorly/was one people just didnât find as funny.
The reason it stayed in the public psyche is because Kanye never understood it and is still upset about it

Also, IIRC, in the episode, everyone considered it the funniest joke ever, and Kanye was the only person who didn't get it. It just goes on and on with trying to explain the joke and Kanye still doesn't get it and completely overreacts.

u/thatguyned Dec 02 '22
It goes one step further with him being convinced the joke was intentionally written ABOUT him, not that it could apply to any person and he kept falling for it.
Why is he a gay fish? What about being a lyrical genius makes him a gay fish? Is it cause he's breaded?
→ More replies→ More replies262
u/-0-O- Dec 02 '22
The joke is that Kanye is too self-absorbed and stupid to understand a joke that everyone else in the world gets and isn't offended by.
The joke is,
"Do you like fish sticks?"
"Yes."
"Then you're a gay fish."
Because fish-sticks sounds like fish-dicks.
The entire episode is about everyone loving the joke. It being told on late night shows, etc. But when someone tells the joke to Kanye, he doesn't get it and thinks he's being insulted.

That's not what he said, and it's talking about Atrazine, not roundup.
"They're putting chemicals in the water that are turning the freaking frogs gay!" Is what he said. In reality, the chemicals (Atrazine) are changing the frogs' sex (by messing up their hormonal systems). Watch the video, it's good.
Edit: Some people are misunderstanding my comment a bit. I don't think gay and intersex are the same thing. I'm saying that "gay" is inaccurate, and that Alex Jones accidentally conflated the two.

The law of averages is often confused with the law of large numbers, which states that if you repeat an unpredictable experiment for long enough, a pattern of averages for each outcome will emerge. The law of averages is one version of the gambler's fallacy, or suggesting that something that hasn't occured in a while, has to occur eventually - truth is, it doesn't.

Itâs crazy because Alex Jones was essentially saying âwow wow wow thatâs too extreme, stop itâ.

u/YZJay Dec 02 '22
Jones was even giving Ye lots of ways out like suggesting that Ye was attracted to the aesthetics of Nazi uniforms due to Yeâs interests in fashion instead of something ideological. Ye was just not having it and kept on doubling down lol.

Yeah, by adding the (both of them), they missed a good set up for someone to say "which one?" and someone else to reply "yes". Laughs and useless internet points for all.

I don't know if this is a joke but I actually agree. This video alone should be enough to, at max, only allow him to have supervised visitation.

Yeah that's the thing - I actually do want to watch the full Kanye v Alex Jones shit show (or at least a longer clip of it instead of these broken up ones I've been seeing on Reddit) but I don't want to support Jones in any way or end up with that in my history.

You could watch political streamers like Hasan who watch it on their twitch streams. I like this approach since it's an indirect way of watching the content while not supporting it

It's clips like this that are propelling me to live life like I might only have another 10 years left. Like don't get me wrong, I don't think the world is going to end and I would hope I have more than 10 years.. but shit isn't getting any better. Reality could be pretty fucked in another 10 years.
I think the scariest thing about people like Kanye are the resources and platform they have. Imagine what someone even worth 10 million could do if they funded a crazy extremist group.

This is just so sad! This man OBVIOUSLY NEEDS MENTAL help. This is how you know that no one in his circle gives two shits about him. His mom died and he absolutely lost his mind. He has not been right since and hanging with the Kardashians exacerbated the crazy. Now heâs too crazy for them! This is just so sad. What would old Kanye say about the perverse caricature heâs become?!?

u/bergskey Dec 01 '22
Most mental illnesses are a degenerative disease. If he is bipolar, those are some of the most difficult people to keep medicated. Good chance "old kanye" channeled his manic episodes into his music. As he gets older, his manic episodes will become more unhinged and intense. No one in his circle can force him to take his meds.
