How did you get that scar?

When I was four I tried picking up this cat but I stepped on his tail at exactly the same time as trying to lift him and he scratched the fuck out of me.

20

u/vaneroseof Dec 02 '21

Do you like cats now? Or did this make you dislike them?

49

u/SpeedyMcAssface Dec 02 '21

Nah, I love cats. I don’t like birds though, for a similar reason. I’ve known a couple asshole birds in my life. Honestly, I feel like all birds know I don’t trust them because every bird I’ve met doesn’t trust me either. We’re always giving each other the side-eye.

6

u/RX8JIM Dec 02 '21

I side see what you did there.

4

u/IhaveaBibledegree Dec 03 '21

The asshole birds were probably blue jays. Those guys are just Dicks with wings!

3

u/Stefie25 Dec 03 '21

I don’t like birds after I watched the parrot at the pet store break his handler’s thumb.

It did not work! :(

11

:(

19

u/drewhead118 Dec 02 '21

probably because it's just a scar--chicks dig full dismemberment

source: well it didn't work my first four times and I'm out of limbs now but I'd bet time number 5 or 6 would've been the deal-sealer

u/PolandhatesWTP Dec 03 '21

I hear girls love amputation these days

36

u/Resident_Mae Dec 02 '21

My dog bit me and left a scar

Then I got another dog and she bit me and left a matching scar right next to the other one and I thought it was cute

Then my fish bit me and left a not matching scar halfway up my arm

And then I popped a zit on my dick and have a scar

26

u/vaneroseof Dec 02 '21

You must taste good if so many animals have tried to eat you.

12

u/Resident_Mae Dec 02 '21

My dogs smell like Fritos but that’s a forbidden taste so I’m not sure which of the three of us tastes the best

The fish I assume doesn’t taste good in his presently alive state and I can’t reach my dick

3

u/damboy99 Dec 03 '21

Your dogs smell like Fritos cause their feet sweat, and the moisture makes the bacteria thats on their feet smell like corn chips.

3

It’s a relatively large tank and I was trying to clean the algae off the glass

Breeding severums are not to be messed with…

Got my hand stuck in an electric sander while it was running. Sanded off part of my finger.

9

u/vaneroseof Dec 02 '21

That sounds horrible. How long was it stuck there?

15

u/GenericPerson7 Dec 02 '21

Wasn’t stuck too long, eventually it sanded enough off so that my finger could get out.

Didn’t put the nice kitty down after he repeatedly and emphatically asked to be set down. He meowed, he grumbled and chuffed, then he growled and hissed. I persisted because I’m dense that way. Homey bit the hell out of my ear to emphasize his point. It worked, too. I bled like a stuck pig.

My laughing daughter produced an earring to see if the kitty’s fangs actually punched through the cartilage. They had, although it was the most unhygienic and unprofessional piercing I’d ever seen. The hole eventually closed, but the scar and loose cartilage remain years later.

The kitty and I are back to being best friends, but I don’t cross him anymore.

15

u/vaneroseof Dec 02 '21

I would have put an earring on it. 😋

20

u/Southern_Snowshoe Dec 02 '21

My doctor SIL said, “You’ll get an infection unless you start antibiotics.” I’d washed it immediately and put alcohol on it, so I blew her off. Sure enough, next day: raging infection. I texted SIL back, hat in hand, “About those antibiotics you offered…”

3

u/dayglo_nightlight Dec 03 '21

u/MrRawes0me Dec 02 '21

Ramped my bike. Landed too far on the back wheel. Slipped off of the metal pedals. The pedals had little nubs for grip. Side of knee sliced open.

6

u/vaneroseof Dec 02 '21

Did you at least look cool?

8

u/MrRawes0me Dec 02 '21

No. It was my birthday and friends were over. We all ended up at the ER wheeling around in wheel chairs. We also snuck a giant pizza into the room while I was getting stitches.

5

u/MasteringTheFlames Dec 02 '21

I've got some pretty gnarly scars on my left shin from those pedal pins. I think it's a rite of passage for anyone who uses those types of pedals.

3

Why? Bet? Dare?

4

u/Background-Two1190 Dec 03 '21

Lmao amusement? Once your skin gets that cold it’s playable, like you can pinch it and it’ll stay that way, I guess dare as well bc two of my friends did it as well, I did it the longest and have the biggest scar. It’s the size a a watch on top of my wrist,

4

u/Kiekis Dec 03 '21

A game of Spoons in my family can get intense. It's a lot of fun haha and even better when you scatter the spoons around the room instead of on the table

2

u/vaneroseof Dec 02 '21

Not familiar with that game.

8

u/DumDumGimmeYumYums Dec 02 '21

It's a card game played by children. When someone has 4 of a kind they grab a spoon. Once a spoon is grabbed, everyone else grabs one. There aren't enough spoons for everyone so there's usually a fight for the last spoon.

Me and my brother decided to colour a gnome in a colouring book.

I wanted it red, he wanted it green...

I got a pencil stuck between my left eye and left ear.

6

I got stabbed with a pencil on my knee years ago, and I recently got one on my foot too. Just stepped on it like a dumbass.

2

u/ServinVariel Dec 02 '21

The funny thing is that i was lucky enough not to lose my eyesight out of that eye.

6

u/blasphemous_bastard Dec 02 '21

i was 5 and some guy accidentally let go a massive iron gate and it hit me straight in the middle of my forehead

4

u/Raddatatta Dec 02 '21

I was using a hatchet to cut down a tree to be able to pitch a tent and tried to cut it too low. Banged the hatchet off the tree, then off my ankle and into the ground. Surprisingly was sharp enough it didn't really hurt. But it was far enough away that I couldn't easily get to a hospital so got to try out that boy scout first aid!

2

u/vaneroseof Dec 02 '21

How much time did it take to actually get to a hospital? Did you have people around to help?

6

u/Raddatatta Dec 02 '21

We bandaged it up and I didn't actually go to the hospital for it. We would've been about a day's canoe trip to get out and then a few hours to the hospital so it wasn't really a quick option without calling in a helicopter or something crazy. It wasn't life threatening or anything and we used butterfly bandages to close it up and stopped the bleeding, and made sure to keep it clean. I was with a boy scout troop so we had tons of first aid supplies that usually went unused but came in handy! I probably would've gotten a handful of stitches if I had gone to the hospital but went ok without it.

Did get to see the youth leader who was a friend of mine freak out which was kind of funny. I remember telling him to take a deep breath and relax before realizing he probably should've been the one telling me that.

4

u/Actuaryba Dec 02 '21

I just came in from swimming so my shirt was off. I went to get a cup for a drink and proceeded to drop it in the deep frier that was on. The grease splattered all over me, and ended up with some scars from burns on my chest.

3

u/Mean_Connection7813 Dec 02 '21

Oof. I was frying some food in my apartment once. A piece broke in half as I was flipping it. Splashed oil on my torso. Still scarred.

2

u/MasteringTheFlames Dec 02 '21

More elaboration needed. In what situation does one end up messing with eagle eggs?

3

u/TechyDad Dec 02 '21

Not me, but my oldest son. It was my wife's birthday and there was a huge snowfall. My son and I went out to shovel. He was about 5 so he wasn't too effective shoveling but he tried his best to help.

As we were clearing the driveway, I got a huge shovelful of snow. He bent down to scoop some just as I raised my shovel up quickly. He screamed and put his hand over his eye. I saw blood gushing out, covering his winter coat.

I rushed him inside and told my wife. We got him stabilized as best we could. Luckily, I didn't hit his eye. Instead, I had hit the outer corner of his left eyebrow. A chunk of skin was gone and it was obvious that he needed to go to the ER.

We had a baby so my wife stayed home with our little one. I picked my mother-in-law up from her house (which is close by) and drove through the snow storm to the ER. Thank goodness I had already cleared off my car and the lower end of the driveway.

The doctors and nurses at the ER were great. They got the bleeding to stop and used a special glue to seal the wound shut.

My son is now 18 and, if you look closely, you can still see the indentation by his eyebrow. The lesson here: Keep your distance from each other when you shovel!

3

u/Yovana19 Dec 02 '21

My classmate from elementary school who was also bullying me was coming out of the bathroom and I was going there, she was taller than me, and we didn't see each other because we were in a rush and she hit me with her front teeth on the forehead, her teeth hurt and my face was all bloody. After a while, her teeth were back to normal but I still have a scar from her ugly ass teeth on my forehead.

It wasn't a big cut but a nasty one. It was bleeding for a week or 2. Can't remember exactly but I had to wear a bandaid for quite long. And to this day I have a scar on my thumb on that spot.

2

Context: ~2 in the morning, quite drunk

Was riding my bike one handed, while holding a half full bottle of liquor in the other Hand. Hit a small stone with my front wheel and body slammed the bottle on the ground, smashing it with my hand. 3 deep cuts with one cut tendon.

Got pushed when i was drunk, falling into a pile of trash, cutting open my back Got a huge wound from it, and it probably would have healed, but i thought it looked badass so i scratched it open again

2

u/Stroms_ Dec 02 '21

My most recent one is a gash on my hip after I ate absolute shit my first time riding a longboard. I got too confident and zoomed down a steep hill before the wobbles took me. I think my glasses went about six feet in the air after.

I had one that is pretty much gone now from a friend's birthday party back when we were really young. We were running around the place like fools. I turned the corner and my friend, who had filed his nails into ten little daggers, clawed me. I had three wolverine-looking cuts running from my wrist, wrapping down and across the side of my arm almost to the elbow.

About a 10" long scar on my left ribs from a theuorocotomy due to bacterial pneumonia that went MRSA.

1" scar on my forehead at the hairline from a golf club. We were kids and a friend swung when I was behind him.

Scar on my right knee from a bicycle crash when I was 10ish.

Scars on my soul from old broken hearts.

During gym we were playing indoor hokey and I needed to grad a hockey stick so I ran across the stage since they were on the other side, I got one ran back, slid, and trip an hit literally an inch away from my eye and had to be taken to the er. I now have a permanent scar from where they put the glue. I was 10 or 11 I think. I'm just happy I didn't lose my eye.

2

u/ThatGuy0verTh3re Dec 03 '21

Nothing exciting but on a cub scouts trip (I was maybe 9) we were whittling and my knife slipped and cut a layer of skin off

Funny enough I walked up to my dad after it happened (in a slightly calm and inconspicuous way so I wouldn’t get embarrassed for what I did) and he was talking to another dad and told me “hold on a second” and I tried to get his attention again but he just ignored me, and when he finally turned to me he asked me what I wanted to say and I showed him my finger which now looked like I had just killed somebody

2

u/Agraywitch11 Dec 03 '21

2

u/Mbird20 Dec 03 '21

When I worked at a grocery store distribution center we had to close the lids on the totes and then push them down the line. The hinges had metal rods through them, and sometimes they would get bent and stick up. When I pushed some of the totes down the line my arm caught a piece of metal and gashed it open. The supervisor just told me to get a bandaid from the wall. She took it a little more seriously when she saw me pass out on the floor.

My father was a drinker…and a fiend. And one night, he goes off crazier than usual. Mommy gets the kitchen knife to defend herself. He doesn’t like that. Not…one…bit. So, me watching, he takes the knife to her, laughing as he does it. He turns to me and says, “Why so serious?” He comes at me with the knife - “Why so serious?” He sticks the blade in my mouth - “Let’s put a smile on that face!” And…why so serious?

I have this scar on my finger shaped like a Nike swoosh because I was dumb/drunk and decided to punch a pint glass.

This was back when I was in college living at one of the dorms and it ended up slicing my finger really badly, like I mean there was a flap of skin that came up. Went to the bathroom and ran it under water, but it just kept bleeding. I didn't know what to do and was too drunk to try to deal with it, so I just wrapped my hand in a towel and tried to go to sleep.

Woke up to knocking at my door and it ended up being security. He followed a trail of blood from the bathroom to my room and wanted to make sure I was alright. I told him I was fine and just had a cut, but he demanded to see it. After I showed him my finger he was like, "Come on, you gotta go to the hospital." Dude was a real bro and drove me there even though it was like 3am. Saw a doctor and he had to give me a bunch of stitches. He said I was very lucky because if it was just a tiny bit deeper I would have probably had done permanant damage and lost mobility of the finger.

There’s a scar above my eyelid. It was all the way back in 5th grade during Science Camp and the last night of the week involved dancing at the camp plaza. I just got back from washing my hands when my friend who was dancing got pushed on accident and fell on my face while he was laughing. Tooth basically hit my skull and I’ve had that scar for 8 years.

1

u/zachtheperson Dec 02 '21

In 6th grade the weird kid at the holloween party that my friends mom made him invite was trying to take advantage of one of the girls there by holding her at "kifepoint," (turned out to just be a letter opener, but it was dark). I stepped in to intervene, but picked the wrong year to wear a straight jacket costume and ended up getting stabbed under my right pec/flab.

Mostly faded now, but it still swells up if I take a really hot/long shower.

In Winter at my old barn. I couldnt open up the locker to get a halter out and tried to open it with a bit more force. I moved it a bit and the next second everything went black, followed by a big metallic boom. I was still standing there noticing that a big metal bowl fell from the locker onto my f*cking face. Now i got a scar across my nose.

u/SkylerDoesStuff Dec 02 '21

1

u/bstyledevi Dec 02 '21

I tore my distal bicep tendon at work. The scar was where they reattached the tendon to the bone.

1

u/Smack_that_bitch Dec 02 '21

I have multiple. One that looks like an upside down crescent moon from a broken bottle. (Accidental and caused by my big sis. I was 7) A scar right below my right knee from falling down a steed ditch and landing on a sharp rock. (Untied shoelace. I was 7.) And a small scar above my right eyebrow from being shot with a BB gun by my cousin. (Not accidental. I was 12.)

I had a very eventful childhood I guess 🤷🏻‍♀️

When my mother casted herself when voldemort tried to kill me...... Ah muggle world, wrong thread!

1

u/erichw9 Dec 02 '21

The skin on my palms near the base of my thumbs is different than the rest of my hand (almost like a textured grid pattern) because in high school, I jumped out of the back of a truck because I though I could run myself to a stop.

It was probably going about 10 mph. I landed my right foot, it got swept behind me. I landed my left foot, it got swept behind me. So there was nothing left to land on but my hands and knees, which went for quite the long skid on the asphalt. It’s really surprising I didn’t break anything.

1

u/FutureEve Dec 02 '21

Had to empty a metal popcorn tray at work all by myself while closing up and it was a lot heavier than anticipated and it flipped and one of the sharp edges cut into my right thumb. Bled like hell and I had to go to the doctor the next morning because I wasn't sure how bad it actually was. I didn't need any stitches, thankfully, but now I have a half-moon-shaped scar on the side of my thumb.

Kneeling down outside my bathroom while my sister was cleaning it. She had taken the metal floor vent out & placed it upside down outside the bathroom & apparently the edges are super sharp. Didn't feel like anything worse than a cat scratch but when I looked at my foot, I watched the wound open but there was no blood for a couple of seconds & I immediately thought 'that can't be good'.

1

u/RoughFrosting81 Dec 02 '21

I fell on a glass table and slipped and hit my head on utility. Twice. And got a scar on my chin with another one on it! Don’t worry the tables fine I think I’ve moved since then

1

u/thepineapplereborn Dec 02 '21

Cutting carrots when I was about 7, gave myself a nasty slice.

That other one? Ice skating when I was 4. Fell over and somehow cut myself on my skate.

Oh, and that one? Age 14, stuck my hand in a box of Christmas decorations then quickly withdrew it at a sharp pain. Never figured out what cut me.

All three are on my hands, btw

1

u/MasterHer0br1ne Dec 02 '21

When I was 4-5 I this huge spot appeared on the back of my left hand, so I was taken to the Doctors to have surgery on it and I still have the mark from it 11 years later.

Fun fact while we were in the waiting room we saw Amy winehouse sitting infront of us.

Jumping out of a tree in high heels (me in heels, not the tree) into what I thought was sand, but was actually a strip of concrete.

Guess who doesn't do shots of liquor anymore? (It's me.)

Barbed wire stung across a gate. Caught me in my chest, shredded bits of my neck.

Luckily, no serious damage at all.

Freaked my aunt out at the time, she was working in A&E when I came in covered in blood.

1

u/Abomb-is-eternal Dec 02 '21

The two on my hand from bashing my hand against the edge of my grandparent's pool as the seeker.

The two on my thigh from running track and some guy without proper running etiquette cut over too early on the first turn and knocked my friend/teammate in front of me over and his spikes gashed my leg. Still finished the mile with blood running down my leg, lol.

1

u/Firebolt164 Dec 02 '21

Second grade, I learned how to ride my bike standing up on the frame. Did it going down a big hill and was thrown of, landed on my chin and slid, removing skin down to the bone. They grafted skin from my back and 17 years later, I got a few zits on my chin that popped out small pieces of gravel from the accident that had been listed under the skin..I could always feel them and it felt good to have them out. Still have a gnarly scar on my chin.

1

u/rainbowfighter16 Dec 02 '21

Got my hand caught between a camshaft blank and chute wall. Severed 5 tendons. Had 2 surgeries on it, and got about 98% of the function back. Sometimes accidentally right click, makes games of COD interesting.

u/NachoFailconi Dec 02 '21

Three or four years old, I fell off a stone stair and my eye hit one step. I was eager to go to beach. Next I know, I'm seeing all red. The scar is just below the tip of my right eyebrow.

1

u/PuzzleheadedBook3954 Dec 02 '21

I was 6 years old and running away from a group of neighborhood girls that were trying to kiss me. Ran right into a tree branch that somehow sliced open my cheek pretty deep. Scar is still there almost 20 years later, although I’ve made up a cooler story for when people ask in person.

1

u/CrazybyRX Dec 02 '21

I was cutting through zip ties at work with a dull box cutter... ended up pushing through one too hard and straight up my other forearm. The scar looks like I tried to slit my wrist lengthwise.

Fell down some stairs at my wife's uncle's house in Poland.

The uncle built/designed a portion of the house, including the stairs. The stairs are made out of wood. They are individually put in the brick wall, but the stairs have no backing, as in you could put a leg/arm through each steps and no railing. Also, tho my wife says I'm wrong, the stairs are not put in evenly.

I was coming downstairs, wearing socks, and slipped. One leg went backwards slightly through the open steps, and as there was no railing to grab with my right hand, I forcibly turned and slammed my left fist into the wall to brace myself. I still thudded down a little. Her aunt and uncle asked me, asumedly, in Polish what was wrong. As I do not speak Polish I replied in English I was alright.

I crawled upstairs and waited for my wife to come home. She found me in bed with my bloody hand. The only bathroom was downstairs and I was too afraid to try again to walk the death steps. Had scars on my knuckles ever since

u/Revolutionary-Long45 Dec 02 '21

Was about 5 yrs old, had to take a serious crap like seriously peaking out kinda crap, ran to the bathroom, tripped and fell into the sharp corner of the bathroom counter top. Left about a half inch scar above my right eye. Looks totally badass now but almost took my eye out! My mom heard me scream and found me sitting on the toilet in relief but with blood running down my face.

On one of my first jumps on my new parachute. (skydiving). I, being inexperienced, misjudged the timing needed to slow down my parachute, got nervous and ended up diving myself into the runway. Then, the wind dragged me across. I didn't have the heart to tell my parents what happened, who despised my hobby, so I told them I had a terrible running accident (four limbs bandaged up, I'm not sure how they believed me!).

Most of the road rash left minimal scarring, but I do have a reddish-brownish scar on my wrist (doctor said it was very deep, close to bone), which my best friend affectionately calls my "tortilla skin" since it looks like one of the brown markings on a cooked tortilla.

This incident also earned me the nickname "Tarmac" at the dropzone I worked at, at the time.

u/SimoHm22 Dec 02 '21

I once was once was sliding on my knees on the wet floor like a soccer player when I was in a hammam(kinda like a sauna). My grandpa told me to stop but I didn't listen. I don't know how but I suddenly got stopped mid-slide and I fell hard on my chin. There was a lot of blood and when I touched it, it was completely flat.

The worst part is that my grandpa didn't care and just continued cleaning himself instead of rushing me to the hospital. When we got to the hospital, the doctors stitched me up and put a bandage on it.

It was so disgusting at first because the stitches were very visible but after my uncle did his magic, it was better. Now I have scar on my chin where my beard won't grow.

Stepped on a piece of broken beer bottle in the midst of a temper tantrum because my mom was throwing away a plastic play tent that was old and broken. I was three, it went all the way through my toe, and it was the middle of summer and 100*+ so my blood immediately stained the sidewalk.
